The Project

Takbo Para sa Japan was conceptualized by the faculty, staff and Japan Studies students of the UP Center for International Studies. Student organizations' UP AME, UP RCY, and UP Tomo-Kai and Japanese exchange students were invited to be the center's partner in organizing the event.

Its aim is to unite students, faculty and staff in expressing sympathy and solidarity with the people of Japan, raising awareness among Filipinos of the tragedy that befell Japan and helping raise funds for its rebuilding efforts and its numerous evacuees cramped in evacuation centers.

It is an extension work of the center and a socio-civic project/community service of the students and their organizations.
